Anne Cairns Federlein was the first Director of the Regents' Center for Early Developmental Education from 1989-1993. She and Dr. Judith Finkelstein worked closely in the early years to develop a cohort of faculty interested in a wide range of research projects centering on young children and families at risk.
Following her assignment as Director of the Regents' Center at the University of Northern Iowa, Dr. Federlein was named Dean for a short time and then Provost and Academic Vice President at the State University of New York, College at Oneonta.
During Anne's tenure in upstate New York, she received major funding to to establish the Center for Social Responsibility and Community on campus. The student run center developed outreach projects to develop a relationship with the city of Oneonta at a time when both the college and city were rife with racial unrest.
Dr. Federlein was also named President of the Newark (Ohio) Campus of the Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College and retired as President of Kentucky Wesleyan College.
